I have been on retreats before; however, this was a completely different experience. It was a good way to connect with God while spending time with my friends. When the retreat was over I felt almost as if I was refreshed. I was able to know more about my faith, and also learn more about women’s empowerment. As a young lady in today’s day and age I feel that it was necessary to learn that information.
I enjoyed spending time and bonding with my big sister and writing the prayer cards with them. It was a way to get to know each other better and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the activities that were provided to us. For instance, I enjoyed the ice breaker game we played. The tension of the room was broken with that game and everyone became more comfortable with each other. In my opinion that was a part of the point to why this retreat was held. The women’s panel “interview” was also quite the learning experience. I learned a lot about each of the six women’s lives while also informing us on our religion and the women’s empowerment in this world. I learned that prayer won’t go anywhere and it will always remain right here with you. I also learned that in women’s empowerment, confidence is the key to many different things in life. On the topic of religion this retreat helped realize my relationship with God. It helped me realize that having a relationship with God is extremely important. During this time for the retreat we were given the opportunity to talk to new people. As I was given time to bond with my big sister, I was able to chat with some of her friends and their little sisters. I personally thought that the joint retreat with freshmen and juniors was a great idea. It was a great experience bonding with the juniors and our big sister, as we don’t get to talk much to them during the actual school day. Overall, I think that the retreat was a great way to really connect with God and the people around me.
